News & Views Podcast | Episode 163: Deepfake Tech & Aro’s secure loan advice

On this week’s episode of News & Views, The Fintech Times podcast team take a look into the latest initiative to protect people from the dangers of deepfakes and chats about TotallyMoney‘s product expansion offering a greater choice of loan products thanks to a new partnership.

In this episode, Tom and Polly kick things off by taking a deep dive into the dangers posed by deepfake technology following the launch of a new initiative by high-street bank Santander. As deepfakes become more and more realistic and convincing, Santander is teaming up with ‘finfluencer’ MrMoneyJar.

After this week’s duo discusses how convincing two deepfake videos coming from the partnership are, they then turn their attention to a new partnership between TotallyMoney and Aro, which aims to bring personalised credit matching capabilities to loan customers.

Tom and Polly discuss the potential of data-driven insights to improve access to credit for the underbanked and underserved. While both agree the new partnership represents a positive step to improve this, they also recognise the challenges of banks grappling with modernisation and remaining legacy systems, which could prove a roadblock to fast progress.
